About WikiDehumidifier

WikiDehumidifier lists dehumidifiers sold at the store for rooms, basements, crawl spaces and whole homes: compressor and desiccant machines, small portable units and large ones, with or without a pump. Each entry carries what its seller wrote in the title and the price as it stood when we looked.

What the entries say, and what they leave out

Capacity in pints per day, the floor area, the type, a pump, a drain hose and the rooms a seller names are copied from the seller's own title. The pint figure is printed as written and never converted, because the rating test has changed over the years and two numbers from different tests are not the same measure. Where a title is silent on a detail, the field stays blank and we do not fill it in. Noise, power use and real drying speed are not shown at all.

No unit has been run in a damp room

We have not set up any of these machines in a basement, measured a humidity reading or listened to a fan. So there is no ranking by how well one dries a space, and nothing here says a dehumidifier will stop mold. The listing, the maker's manual and the owners who reviewed it are where that is answered.

Prices are read, dated and dropped when stale

Every amount is read from the store and shown with the time of the reading. A reading that has grown old is taken down rather than shown as current, and the final price is whatever the store's page charges.

Guides and Learn

The buying guides compare dehumidifiers on stated specs and price only. The Learn section explains terms such as pints per day, LGR and desiccant using pages from agencies and universities, and the front page says how many dehumidifiers are covered.
